You can follow my students as they develop their newswriting and reporting skills on our class blog. We’ve just gotten started by putting up some bios thus far. This is the first class University of Memphis students take where they start learning the basics of doing journalism, so we will mostly be practicing writing a standard news story and not thus be focusing too heavily on blogging or multimedia/electonic publishing (they’ll get more of that in later semesters), but I hope to get them at least thinking about writing for online sources as soon as possible. They’ll be posting some of the stories they write in class as well as occasionally their thoughts on media today. Suggestions for creative assignments for class and examples of good writing that I can share with them always welcome
